Sophomore release from Trusme “In the Red” out now on Fat City Recordings
Trusme’s sophomore album In the Red is available now at hacyondigi.com and at halcyon the shop in CD or on vinyl from Fat City Recordings.
The follow-up effort to 2007’s Working Nights is more song-based and structured, and finds the Mancunian DJ developing his own distinct style of house music amidst the greater UK scene. Many of the tracks are collaborations with some of dance music’s key players, and the tracks explore the different sub-genres of house music, especially disco house and deep house. Current Jazzanova frontman Paul Randolph provides vocals on a remake of West Phillips’ Sucker for a Pretty Face, and Los Angeles nu-boogie pioneer Dam-Funk lends his skills on the disco-tinged Wheel Me Out. Mahogani Music’s longtime collaborator Pirahnahead and Detroit’s Amp Fiddler also make appearances.
With so many tracks featuring artists from different spectrums of dance music, In the Red could easily have turned out sounding more like a compilation than an album. Instead, it demonstrates how far Trusme’s extensive touring and studio time have allowed him to develop as an artist. In the Red is a cohesive album of simply great house music that is sure to see listeners add Trusme to their list of house music DJs to watch.
