Anthony Parasole
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Anthony Parasole has had a lifelong love affair with electronic dance music. His ears first perked up back when the city’s FM radio mix shows played the proper underground tracks from New York, Chicago, and Detroit. Hip-Hop from the late ’80s to mid ’90s also had a huge influence on Parasole whose raw style to this day bears the indelible mark of the gritty New York street-music that permeated his environs. Primed thusly by the streets and the airwaves, Anthony headed for New York’s downtown clubs and outer-borough Storm Raves where his mind was finally blown wide open for good. A regular at spots from Limelight to Twilo, Anthony was never content to be just another party kid so he began scouring the record stores for all of his favorite tracks, slowly amassing a formidable collection and the skills to match. From ’05 to ’07 Anthony worked as a buyer at halcyon where he multiplied the size of his record collection and his rolodex. Along with his co-worker Alex Dirttt aka Native Sound, Anthony helmed halcyon’s monthly “New Jack City” event at APT where he hosted The Martinez Brothers, Slam Mode, MKL, Adultnapper, Nick Chacona, Todd Sines, Brennan Green, and many more, leading to appearances at bigger clubs like Cielo, Rebel and Pacha where he opened for Derrick May, Cajmere, and Layo and Bushwacka! With his star steadily on the rise, Anthony teamed with another halcyon alum, Levon Vincent, to launch the Deconstruct label in ’08. The first release, Vincent’s Invisible Bitchslap, was an instant smash, heralded by German tastemakers Marcel Dettmann, Shed, and Jan Krueger. Influential shops like Hardwax and even halcyon were left clamoring for more when the first pressing was sold out in one week. ’08 also saw Parasole team with yet another former halcyon mainstay, DJ Spinoza of Bunker fame, to launch the House-n-Home loft party series, establishing Parasole as a DJ ready and able to hold it down alongside serious House maestros like Jus-Ed, Move-D, Dixon, Lawrence, Patrice Scott and Keith Worthy. Fast forward to 2010. With his Club House parties packing in the dancers at Union Square Ballroom and the first productions emerging from his new studio buzzing, you’ll find Anthony Parasole next to Fred P. and DJ Qu on the shortlist of NYC talent that is once again leading the way for the global House nation.
DJ Jus-Ed
A voyage into the world of DJ Jus-Ed reveals an adventurous, energetic and spiritual style of playing quality house music. Music has always been a part of Ed’s life, starting at the tender of of six when he was a drummer touring with his grandparents’ jazz duo. Ed’s first foray into DJing began in 1982 and ended in 1985. He stayed away from DJing until 2001, when he launched Underground Quality as a series of parties at halcyon classic with friend DJ Vic Money. Underground Quality branched out to become a record label in 2005. UQ has released nearly 20 records in three years, in the process becoming one of the hottest house music labels in the planet. After years of experience hosting and guesting on various radio programs, including his first UQ broadcasts live from halcyon classic, Ed has settled down at The Underground Quality Radio Show on myhouse-yourhouse.net.
The program currently holds a cult like status with some of the most famous house music producers and record fiends alike, who tune in each an every Wednesday to sample some of the quality house music that Jus-Ed has become known and loved for the world over. In the past few years, Jus-Ed has appeared at many huge clubs in Europe, including Berghain/Panorama Bar in Berlin, Fabric in London, and Rex Club in Paris. Ed is the last person in the world to let any of his success go to his head. He is one of the most down to earth dudes you’ll ever meet, a family man who runs his own landscaping business in Connecticut to put food on the table.
